At JEC World in Paris from March 5-7, Oxeon AB introduced TeXtreme 360°, a new tape-based discontinuous fibre composite (DFC) offering new levels of strength and versatility for materials engineering.

Crafted from ultra-thin TeXtreme spread tow tapes and partially impregnated with an epoxy matrix, the new DFC demonstrates exceptional strength, stiffness and fatigue performance and is being positioned as a superior alternative to traditional metal alloys and continuous fibre composites, unlocking new possibilities across a wide range of applications

Transcending the constraints of traditional sheet moulding (SMC) compounds, it is engineered specifically for press forming and press moulding processes at intermediate pressure levels.

“Seamless integration is at the core of TeXtreme 360°, allowing it to be easily co-cured with other prepreg materials,” says Oxeon product development director Fredrik Ohlsson. “This cohesive and integrated solution enhances composite manufacturing processes, providing a seamless user experience. It is also available in a non-impregnated variant using TeXtreme dry spread-tow tapes – a sustainable alternative that does not sacrifice performance.”
